Data Collection

Collection of utility bill data can be a real struggle for most organizations with multiple facilities that are geographically disparate. THG manages this process for you in a number of ways. We may collect this data via an electronic feed either from your utilities and/or suppliers. In other cases, the actual paper bills are redirected to THG for processing. In these cases the paper invoice is available online via our portal within 24 hours of receipt. We are creative and flexible in providing the easiest and most efficient solution for securing all necessary data.

THG also has the ability to collect consumption data in real-time if the customer is using one of THG’s sub-metering devices or our proprietary Automated Demand Response Controller (ADRC). This collection method allows THG to collect Interval Data (typically 15-minute consumption data) that allows for much more in-depth analysis and identification of energy savings opportunities.

There is a difference between data and information. At THG, our mission is to turn your energy data into information that will help your organization make informed decisions about how to reduce and manage energy consumption. THG will consolidate energy data, from across a few locations up to thousands of locations, and organize that data into informative, dynamic, aggregation structures based on the customer’s business needs.

This organization will be presented to you in the form of a “tree” structure used for navigation throughout the portal that will automatically aggregate your data to the desired level. The “tree” structures are custom for every client.

THG has established best practices for verifying that the information on energy bills is accurate. There are two types of verification that can be performed depending on a customer’s level of scrutiny with regard to energy bills:
1. Metric-Based Validation

  • Compares 20+ points of bill information to customer-set tolerances
  • Alerts trigger internal processes to notify the customer and investigate anomalies

2. Tariff-Based Verification

  • We build each tariff associated with your accounts
  • Our full bill recreation engine uses actual consumption from the bill to verify each bill’s accuracy. THG will also evaluate alternative tariffs for a customer to verify that they are on the optimum tariff for their needs.

Accounts Payables Integration

THG provides several forms of integration with a customer, including custom export files that link internal systems to automated utility bill data collection. In a typical case, THG will provide a file to a customer designed to be imported into the billing system of their choice. This file will contain energy charges associated with a customer’s General Ledger codes so that the bill can be paid and all charges distributed correctly throughout the organization.

Along with the import file, THG also provides a report containing PDF versions of all bills received along with identification of any anomalies found on those bills during the validation process. THG’s EMS portal may also be used as a document repository for third-party supply contracts, confirmations, and other energy related documents.
